".....a rare piece of art that, in the first beat of the heart upon its sight, captures you deeper and more profoundly, and like good truly fine art will do, touches a place so pure and real you swear your soul has been lit....Jaynee Levy-Polis...and her art hooked me quick. I knew right away,...I was greatly moved." Libido Art |
Jaynee A. Levy-Polis The work is
proficient technically, expressive, thought provoking and has integrity."
Jeff Alexander has written, "like good truly fine art will do, touches
a place so pure and real
you swear your soul has been lit. ...we are companions and share in the naked moment, refreshed for being real." Lastly, in my East Village exhibit in About.Com, Eric Weiner commented, "Jaynee's watercolors are erotic, provocative, feminist, feminine and funny." I have been Artist of the Month in the Philly Art News and the Critic's Choice in one of our big newspapers, Philadelphia City Paper. I have painted all my life and I find my work coming together over the last two years. |

Funny Fine Art and Rubenesque Nudes The Art of Jaynee
Levy-Polis
I've had the pleasure of corresponding with Jaynee recently. She's an unforgettable woman that has made such an impact on me that it's honestly hard to even find the right words to convey what I've discovered. Her art truly captures the vitality of her spirit, the beauty that resonates with each word she speaks. Jaynee has been exhibiting her paintings since 1968. Her work has been included in many galleries and exhibits, including the Tzigane Invitational Exhibit at the Resurgam Gallery in Baltimore, the High Wire Gallery, Synapses Gallery, Fetishes Gallery, CCC Gallery, The Art Place, DiVinci Art Alliance, Aslan Gallery and Ebullience Gallery, all in Philadelphia, Pa. She is affiliated with Mother Artists, The Art Place in Philadelphia, Mountainesque Gallery in Alberta, Canada and Tzigane Fine Arts in Havre de Grace, Maryland. On-line, she is featured on About.Com's New York East Village exhibit, Gender Blur, LibidoArt's Classic Gallery and many others. Jaynee was February's Philly Art World's Artist of the Month and the Philadelphia City Paper's Critic's Choice for her exhibit in November, 1999 at the Fetishes Art Gallery. She was awarded the Hannah Price Award in 1994, the Elizabeth Simon Purchase Prize 1988, and the Griff Award in 2001. "Since I was eight years old, I have wanted to paint. I started art classes at 13 and never stopped. I believe each person possesses a unique response to life and that it can be expressed in many ways, one of which is Art. My creative method is to allow whatever I feel to rise to the surface and be expressed in my artwork. I watch the painting form and coalesce on the canvas. Without consciously drawing and designing, I paint in a kind of a trance. For about three years, my artwork has focused on Rubenesque woment pursuing their fantasies as a part of normal life. Recently, I have begun a lot of life drawing again. I thrill to the excitement of creating, and look forward to going wherever it leads me. My painting is my personal adventure, my contribution to the world and what makes my life interesting." |
